Calling all Emergency Services Employees, Law Enforcement, Fire/Rescue Personnel, local, district and state leadership. You all are invited to join the Hillbilly Hams Amateur Radio Club for our annual Summer Field Day 24-hour Emergency Preparedness event.

Saturday, June 28th from 2-5 pm we are inviting you to come join us, see our radio and antenna set ups as well as additional gear used to get the radios up and running while using only emergency power sources. 

Operators will be working several different modes of communications to contact other stations operating around the US and Canada. Typically, over 31,000 operating stations participate in this yearly event. 

Although this year’s event is not open to the general public, we are focusing our attention on those in emergency services and essential organizations that may need to be available during crisis mode in our county, other surrounding areas and within the state. After the devasting Hurricane Helene impacted a large portion of WNC, East TN, North GA, SC, Kentucky, VA and FL it became very apparent how amateur radio operating stations played a pivotable roll in sustaining communications for emergency relays for help, messaging families or doing wellness checks and bridging the gaps during this difficult time when there were no other forms of communication such as phone, internet, landlines and power.
