Official Proclamations recognizing the Hillbilly Hams ARC Members 2025!
Every year the ARRL conducts a 24-hour emergency preparedness drill called Summer Field Day. This event is held on the last weekend of June. Amateur radio operators participating will select a location either public or non-disclosed and practice emergency communications set-up of equipment to include radios, antenna's, power supplies, and for the 24-hour period of time make contacts with other operators around the globe. Those operators will log those contacts made via numerous modes such as CW (morse code), SSB (voice), Digital (FT8/FT4, RTTY, SSTV). This event helps operators hone their communication skills, setting up and operating under emergency conditions such as with no commercial power to run equipment, experiencing the outdoor elements and allows for individuals to have quality fellowship with other operators. It also allows for visitors to watch these operators utilize those skills and some will offer for visitors to participate, often creating "new interests" in ham radio.
